Nattokinase is a proteolytic enzyme derived from natto, a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans.
It has been studied for its fibrinolytic activity: its interaction with the body’s natural processes for breaking down fibrin, a protein involved in blood clot formation. Research has also examined Nattokinase in relation to arterial plaque, blood flow, circulation, blood pressure, and other cardiovascular markers. A scientific review describes both laboratory and human research involving nattokinase’s fibrinolytic activity and cardiovascular effects.
What Has Human Research Found?
In one 26-week human clinical study, participants taking 6,000 FU of Nattokinase daily experienced significant changes in measurements of carotid artery health.
Researchers reported an average 36.6% reduction in measured carotid plaque size in the Nattokinase group, with plaque area decreasing from 0.25 cm² to 0.16 cm². Carotid intima-media thickness—another measurement used to evaluate artery health—also decreased significantly.
Separate randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled research has also reported positive findings related to blood pressure and cardiovascular markers after Nattokinase supplementation.

How to Take HeartStrong Enzyme Blend
Take 2 capsules daily, according to the directions on the product label. Because these enzymes have a half life of 12 hours we recommend splitting the dose accordingly. One capsule in the morning and one capsule in the evening.
